Recreation
Recreation and leisure programming in northern communities is essential to a high quality of life for residents. Throughout the year the Hamlet of Tulita Recreation Department under leadership of a full-time Recreation Director, fulfills that essential role. The Arena is a central gathering place for many community activities. Programs developed by permanent and part-time employees for youth through elders take place in the main arena. The facility also serves as a location for public and private meetings, receptions, and other gatherings. The facility’s ice rink is the training centre for hockey and public skating. A drop-in centre for Tulita‘s youth and a well-equipped fitness centre for residents, rounds out the main recreation complex. The fenced baseball diamond hosts ball games and tournaments and and an adjoining playground facility entertains young people throughout the non-winter seasons. The indoor pool is normally open during late June and is active with water-related recreation programs during the months of July and August. Many, many other leisure time activities are facilitated by Recreation Department employees throughout the year.
